50th Anniversary Celebrations

In 2008, Hanson Place Seventh-day Adventist Church is celebrating a significant milestone in its history.  Fifty years of service to God and the community!  From its humble beginning at Pacific Street to its prominent location in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, Hanson Place Church has built a rich heritage and we invite you to celebrate with us.

The 50th anniversary theme is REMEMBER, REVIVE, REJOICE. As we remember the events of the past and rejoice and give thanks to God for all that He has done for this church, we also want to revive the spirit of loving, caring and giving that constituted the foundation of this church.

50th Anniversary Kick-Off

Activities for our 50th Anniversary Celebrations officially started on Sabbath, January 26, 2008.  Pastor J. Glenn Roberts was our guest speaker for the Divine Worship Service.  Read all about it in our "50th Anniversary Celebrations Begin" article.

Pastor Roberts was the sixth pastor of the Hanson Place Church and served this congregation the longest, from 1974 to 1980. It was during his tenure as Senior Pastor that Hanson Place Church reached its peak in attendance with chairs placed in the aisles for additional seating and “standing room only” on many Sabbaths. Who can forget his weekly children’s stories?

• February 23, 2008 - Second Sabbath celebration with Dr. Garnet Morris, former Associate Pastor of Hanson Place Church

• Special Sabbath celebrations each month (dates to be announced)
• October 11-18, 2008 - Homecoming Week
• October 12, 2008 - Oratorio: "The Creation"
• October 19, 2008 - 50th Anniversary Gala Event

 Fundraising

 As part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations, Hanson Place Church is engaged in a special fundraising drive to complete much needed renovations to the Hanson Place complex.  Our goal is to raise $1 million by June 2008.  Your voluntary contributions and/or solicitation of funds from friends or family will help immensely towards our goal.
