Howard L. Brown, Assistant Pastor

Howard Brown was born to the parents of Byron Brown and Enid Patten on the beautiful Island of Jamaica. He is the second of six children – three boys and three girls. As a child, Howard spent his pubescent years with his Aunt Blossom. During this time, he came in contact with the Christian message but rejected it for fear of being ridiculed as weak, but God was not finished with him.
Paul stated that God has predestined some to conform to the likeness of His Son. It was this predestination that has led him to accept God’s plan for his life. Due to a near death experience his father accepted the Advent message. Howard, his father, and younger brother accepted the Lord as their personal savior from a life of sin, rebellion and death.
Upon entering the church, he showed an eagerness to learn as much about the Scripture as possible. He joined the Bible Bowl team and worked with the Sabbath School and Personal Ministry Departments at the Christian Fellowship SDA Church. As his Minister and personal mentor, Pastor Eldeen C. King introduced him to the responsibilities of church leadership with the appointment as a junior elder. From constant study of the Bible a love for God’s word was born, and out of this love developed a desire to share God’s word.
Elder Brown matriculated through Andrews University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion. During this time, he also participated in a number of Evangelistic campaigns for the Northeastern Conference, Michigan Conference, and Adventist Laymen Services (ASI) which resulted in the planting of three new churches.
To further prepare himself for ministry, Elder Brown enrolled at the Andrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. While there he pursued a Master of Arts degree in Religion. The faculty of the New Testament department, seeing his proficiency with Biblical languages and his ability to simplify abstruse concepts, gave Elder Brown an opportunity to teach his fellow colleagues Greek, an experience that has increased his love for God’s word and confirmed his call to the ministry.
While pursuing his studies he married his friend and teenage sweetheart, Esther Olagundoye, an educator by profession. God has blessed them with three healthy children, Oreyana Ayodele Keziah, Leyla Ayomide Inocencia, and Micah Olukayode Alfonso. Elder Brown is proud to be a family man. He believes in spending a great deal of quality time with his children and looks forward to going home each evening to relax with them.
Pastor Brown has a great deal of interests. Of all the interests, teaching and preaching the word of God top the list. In fact, aside from his family, nothing gives him more pleasure than witnessing a person accept and grow in the grace of God. It is his earnest desire to see everyone experience the love God has for His children, which was demonstrated in the sacrificing of His Son, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior to whom be glory and honor forever.
