Melwyn A. Bob Mounter, Senior Pastor

Melwyn A. Bob Mounter was born in Guyana, South America and immigrated to the United States at a young age. He was baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church by the late Pastor J.P. Willis, who was then pastoring the City Tabernacle Church in New York City. Bob and his wife, Carolyn, relocated to Hartford, Ct. where they were both faithful members of the Faith Church. It was in Hartford where the "call" to ministry was experienced. Bob and his family left their promising Dental Laboratory business and moved to Oakwood College to prepare for the gospel ministry.

While at Oakwood, Bob demonstrated exceptional ministerial skills and soon became the student Pastor on the Oakwood College Campus. He worked closely with the late Pastor Eric C. Ward, the Pastor of the campus church for his entire college days. It was under the tutelage of Pastor Ward that Bob blossomed administratively and organizationally. Upon graduation from Oakwood College, Bob was hired by the South Central Conference and assigned to the Oakwood College Campus Church as the first assistant pastor in the history of this prestigious institution.

For the past 25 years he has proclaimed the Advent Message across the United States, Canada,  the Isles of the Caribbean, and on four occasions in Africa.

Pastor Mounter also conducts seminars for: Grief and Recovery, Marriage and the Family, Stewardship, Church Growth, Anger Management, and Drug Awareness.

An alumnus of Oakwood College and Andrews University, Pastor Mounter was ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 1987. He has shown proof of his calling and has been blessed to receive awards for: Evangelism, Stewardship, Church-Planting, Personal Ministry, Church Growth, Church Building, and excellence in Pastoral Ministry.

Elder Mounter has pastored some of the most prominent pulpits across America including the Mount Calvary Church in Huntsville Alabama;  the Historic Glenville Church in Cleveland, Ohio (The largest congregation in Allegheny West Conference, and the fourth largest in the Columbia Union Conference).

Pastor Mounter has been happily married for the past 36 years to the former Carolyn Lawrence, a Registered Nurse.  Mrs. Mounter, now retired, supports her husband in a team ministry.  The Mounters are the parents of three adult daughters; Kelly and Kimberly Mounter (twins), of Nashville, Tennessee and Danielle, who is married to Dr. Carlton Byrd, pastor of the Berean SDA Church in Atlanta, GA.  They also have three granddaughters; Caitlyn Byrd (deceased) Christyn Byrd (7 years old), and Caileigh Byrd (5 years old).
